It was DIT student Jessica Ni Mhairtin who came out on top in the Irish writing category at the 2019 Smedias, sponsored by Foras na Gaeilge. Foras na Gaeilge also sponsored Iriseoireacht trí Ghaeilge – Radió, the Irish radio category in which NUIG student Amy Coy emerged as the winner.
Foras na Gaeilge have been going since 1999 and have promoted the Irish language as well as the Irish community since. The Irish language is an important part of our culture and Foras na Gaeilge work to advise and support administrations across the country.
We received more applications than ever before last year and we can partly attribute that to the work done by Foras na Gaeilge. We were delighted to work alongside them again and we feel they were a fitting sponsor for the awards. We would like to extend our thanks to Foras na Gaeilge for the work they do supporting our precious language and of course for sponsoring our awards on the night.
