Let’s be real, sometimes when we are not looking our best, it can mean that we do not feel our best. Especially whilst trying to juggle university, a part-time job, and everything else that causes chaos. Slacking in our self-care routines is to be expected when life gets in the way, but getting back on track is the key to being the best version of yourself once again.

We are not going to suggest you spend hundreds on completely new hair, a new wardrobe, and complete a makeup haul (as tempting as it is), but instead, we are going to zoom in on the finer details that can leave us feeling like a much better version of ourselves. In this blog post, we will share some of our essential self-tips to do today. Small attention to detail in your appearance can leave you feeling much more hygienic and, most importantly, much more confident. Take a look at the following suggestions:

Create a skincare routine

A skin-care routine is text book for some people, but for others, it is an anomaly. With ten different variations of cleansers, toners and moisturizers, it is normal to be warned of a skin routine if you do not have problematic skin. The truth is having a skincare routine can become a ritual that will leave you feeling much better about yourself. Cut all of the extras out, and keep it simple. Start with a good cleanse designed for your skin type (oily, dry, combination), next follow up with a toner, moisturizer, and some SPF for daytime wear. Even treating yourself to some face masks, lying down and relaxing can be a great pick-me-up when you are not feeling yourself.

Take care of your nails

Next up, you need to invest in your nail care. Getting your nails done can be very expensive. Why not use this investment to learn how to look after your own nails instead? Nail care is key, especially as we use our hands daily, and we also have to look at them all the time! Nail care can be as simple as using a good cuticle oil, trimming them down and keeping them clean. Or, you and your girlfriends could have a pamper night and learn how to do each other’s gel acrylics. A great excuse for an impromptu girls’ night!

Treat your hair to a hair mask

Additionally, you should look to spend some time on your hair care if you have not been feeling 100% confident. It is easy to throw your hair into a messy bun and slump into the lecture hall, but when was the last time you gave your hair some TLC? Treat yourself to a hair mask, or make your own using rosemary oil and your ordinary considertier. Leave this to set into your hair for at least an hour, perhaps do your nails during this waiting time, and after you wash your hair you will find a much healthier texture.

Make your body glow

As we have touched on skincare, you can not forget about the rest of the skin on your body. When was the last time you had an “everything” shower that left you feeling dizzy? It needs to be done occasionally. This should involve exfoliating and moisturizing your whole body. Grab a delicious-smelling body scrub, get rid of all of the extra dead skin, and finish off with a moisturizer with a hint of tanner to give you a subtle glow.

Don’t forget about oral care

Last but certainly not least, you need to look at your oral care and revise your current methods! Bad breath is not cute, especially when you are already not feeling confident. Avoid any chances of insecurity, and upgrade your hygiene routine. That means a new toothbrush, mouthwash, and if necessary, consider invisalign for a straight, dazzling smile.

Overall..

Self-care should become a part of your routine, rather than feeling like a chore. When we let stuff such as our hygiene slip, it is normal to fall out of routine and feel less confident. You can implement small habits such as caring for your nails and skincare so you feel more confident out in the world. more importantly, show the love and attention you have for yourself.
