Tom Martin found his hands tied with shopping bags after missing his flight home. The student slept in so late that his plane had taken off hours before he woke up. From speaking to the student, it is clear that the ISIC card played a big role in saving him.

The ISIC card has been sold in Ireland since the 1970’s. Their mission is to develop and deliver to students a wide variety of benefits and advantages covering all areas of culture, entertainment, leisure, sports, and travel. The card is recognised by universities, academic institutions, student organisations, national governments, and ministries of education around the world. The card is a great companion for travel as it offers a variety of discounts and can be used as a form of ID. Click here for more info.

“Yeah you know it was really scary missing the flight. They put me on a new one but it wasn’t for hours. The thought of having to be alone with my own thoughts for that length was daunting. Luckily I had my ISIC card with me.”

By having the ISIC card with him, Mr. Martin was able to browse many shops in the area where he once again went into his overdraft.

“It gave me access to lots of discounts. It really helped me get out of a bad way.”
