So it’s finally here, the moment we’ve all been waited for, the weekend has arrived thank Christ.

First up, the annual Big Grill returns to Dublin this weekend. Big international names as well as some of Ireland’s best barbecue chefs will be at the event serving up some delicious grub. There’ll be food from all over the world including some from across Atlantic with amazing typical American Barbecue cuisine and if you want to spice up your life than look no further than the Caribbean pop up Lil Portie. The event take place today, tomorrow and Sunday from 12 to 9 o’clock and tickets are between 20 and 30 euro.

Elsewhere, the Howth Roots and Blues Festival takes place this this weekend with the headline act being Don Baker. Among the other acts will be Ciara Sidine, the Prairie Dawgs and Rye River Band. There’ll be 25 gigs in total and all but two of the bars have FREE ENTRY!!!! The event takes place from tonight till Sunday across Howth.

Time is running out to see the The Snapper on stage which finishes up on the 24th of this month. Roddy Doyles legendary novel will be converted into a play at the Gate threatre with Roisin McBrinn taking on the role of director. Niamh Brannigan, Lilymai Clancy, Hazel Clifford and Simon Delaney are set to star in the 1980s Dublin play. General admission is €15 and you can book your tickets on the Gate theater website.

Lastly, the Roaring Banshees is ‘a ripping yarn about a gang of Irish Rebels taking on the Chicago underworld’. A Rogue Cuman Na Mban unit are forced to flee across the country after a failed assassination attempt on Eamon De Valera. The show is written by Peter McMahon and John Morton, directed by Sarah Baxter and produced by Clara Purcell.
