As part of our goodie bag campaign, we are giving away FREE Durex condoms!

A new year of college is a time of pure excitement. You start off with introduction lecture that will inevitably make you freak out over the amount of work you’ll eventually have to do and going on endless nights out during Freshers week.

With all of this, the last thing you’d be thinking about is contraception. Regardless if you ever had sex or not, it is important to prepare for the unexpected event that you decide to drop your pants. Here are a few things that every student should be aware of.

It’s Important to Have Condoms Stocked in Your Drawer

Whether you are a guy or girl, it’s important to have a secret stash. Whether it’s for you, your roomie or your friends. It’s important to invest in good ones, like Durex. Don’t forget to throw out ones that are past their expiration date.

The Pill Doesn’t Protect Against STIs

It might be 99% effective at protecting against pregnancy, but not effective at all at preventing sexually transmitted infections. You know what they say, ‘if you’re going to tap it, wrap it’.

Don’t Be Afraid To Get Tested

There seems to be a stigma towards getting tested for STIs in Ireland. However, it is extremely important that you get tested at least once in a while. The only way to be 100% sure that you don’t have an STI is to get tested.

Get Familiar With Your Campus Health Centre

This is a biggie. You will be able to get information on STIs, get STI tests and pregnancy tests. It’s useful to know where it is on campus and to go in for any questions you may have.
