Seána Tinley lives in Down with her family and a dog. While working as a speech and language therapist as well as NI Country Director for a British charity. In 2024 Tinley was selected as a chair for the Romantic Novelists’ Association.

Seána Tinley is also known as Catherine Tinley for Regency romance novels. Tinley has won numerous awards, including a Rita Award, two RoNA Awards and the HOLT Medallion. Tinley’s novels have been translated into eleven different languages and two have been published as manga graphic books.

Seána Tinley wrote the Irish Midwives series, a historical romance series based on women’s role in society. The Irish Midwife was published in September 2025. This novel involves a secret handywoman based in Belfast who moves to Dublin to study midwifery in the 1930s before World War 2. The sequel, The Irish Midwife at War, will be published in March. In Belfast a handywoman becomes a first aider for victims who were bombed by Nazi planes.

Catherine Tinley novels are standalones but grouped into series. The Chadcombe Marriages series involves Waltzing with the Earl, The Captain’s Disgraced Lady and The Makings of a Lady.
The Ladies of Ledbury House series contains The Earl’s Runaway Governess, Rags to Riches Wife, Christmas Cinderellas, Captivating the Cynical Earl and A Waltz with the Outspoken Governess.
The Lairds of the Isles series includes A Laird for the Governess, A Laird in London and A Laird for the Highland Lady. The Triplet Orphans series entails Miss Rose and the Vexing Viscount, Miss Isobel and the Prince, and Miss Anne and the Earl.

The newest series, The Heiress Switch, consists of The Maid’s Masquerade and “The Undercover Heiress”.
