Leo Eric Varadkar was born on the eighteenth of January 1979 in Dublin. Before becoming the youngest Indian-Irish Fine Gael politician, Taoiseach and Tánaiste, he was a doctor and general practitioner. He believed in making Ireland a better country through free markets, welfare reform and lowering taxes. He also supported numerous referendums, including same-sex marriage and abortion referendums, as he believed women and people from the LGBT+ community deserve rights.

Due to professional and personal reasons, Varadkar stepped down as Taoiseach in 2024. In 2025, Leo Varadkar became a global advisor for Penta Group, a public-relations company. He also published an autobiography, Speaking My Mind.

Speaking My Mind covers a first-hand experience of Varadkar’s life before and during his time as Taoiseach. Including the challenges, sacrifices and tough choices made in the high office. He also writes about being the youngest Taoiseach in history, and meeting leaders of various countries and religions while living through the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit.
