Christmas is a time when couples content is everywhere. If you’re heartbroken while others are going to Christmas markets together and picking out the perfect gift, it can feel even harder.

Here are three tips to help you get through it.

Stick to your Christmas plans:

The worst thing you can do during is a breakup is isolate yourself. Just becuase you’re single doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the festive season. Arrange to do your favourite activities with your friends, or try do some alone. Nothing will build your confidence like solo dates!

Journal:

There can be a lot of pressure to put on “a brave face” at Christmas. Even if you don’t want to pour your heart out at 12 pubs it’s still important to check in with your feelings. Journaling is a great way to do this in private. It also creates a space where you can be completely honest with yourself.

Do something new:

It doesn’t matter what it is. It can be anything from a new coffee spot, to a new haircut, or even watching a new show. The idea is to do something different to mark the start of of a new chapter. When you start physically experiencing a new life, your heart will follow.

If you are heartbroken this Christmas make sure to be gentle with yourself. These steps wont fix everything at once, but they will pave the way for better days.
