It’s currently freshers’ season, meaning it’s time to organise the going out attire! The hardest part of tying an outfit together is finding the perfect jewellery to match. There are so many factors to consider when choosing between gold and silver.

If you struggle to decide between silver or gold earrings, bangles or necklaces, then here are some tips to ease the process and determine which metal suits you more.

  1. Check your undertones

Determining your undertones is the first step to helping you to decide whether gold or silver jewellery is a better suit.

Take a look at the veins on your wrist.

If they’re green or yellow, this indicates you have warmer undertones. If they’re blue or purple, you’ve cool undertones.

Gold may match warmer tones more, while silver may match cooler tones better.

  • Consider your hair and eye colour

Taking hair and eye colour into account is a great way to help determine whether gold or silver jewellery will suit you better.

Hair colour can vary throughout the months and years, but it’s great to consider if you have brown, red, auburn, strawberry blonde or a warmer blonde hair colour, gold may suit you better.

If you have white-blonde, ashy toned, grey or black hair, then silver may be the perfect metal for you.

Unlike your hair colour, eye colour is one thing that will stay the same throughout your life.

If your eyes are brown or hazel, you have warmer undertones meaning gold may be your go-to jewellery choice.

If you have grey, green or blue eyes, then you have cooler undertones, meaning silver may suit you more.

  • Consider your style

Factoring your style and what colours are circulating in your wardrobe is a great way to determine which metal to go for.

If you’re thinking about warming up your Autumn wardrobe with some red, orange, olive green or yellow fits, then gold is your summer colour!

If blue, grey and purple colours are in your fall outfit rotation, then silver is your go-to jewellery of choice!

  • Personal preference

This is all a guide to help you determine which metal may suit you better.

However, the biggest factor is your own preference!

You may even want to mix both metals together with a gold necklace and silver earrings, or even a rose gold jewellery piece.
