Freshers Week is almost here! It’s the perfect time to get to meet friends, socialise, and go on fun nights out. Although, it can be an expensive time for students between society signups, club nights and everything inbetween. It’s important to keep an eye on your bank account so that you can still afford food for the rest of the month. Here are some budgeting tips to help.

Keep Essentials in a Savings Account

Everyone’s expenses look different in college, but we all have monthly essentials. These can include, rent, bills, car insurance, your phone bill etc. Calculate how much you need and put this amount into a savings account, ideally one you have limited access to. This ensures none of your expenses will be missed.

Eat at Home

One of the easiest ways to save money in college is by eating at home. Restaurants on campus can be really expensive. It’s much cheaper to do a weekly shop that you have and planned and budgeted for in advance. If you have a long day on campus bring a packed lunch with you. Most college campuses have social areas that you can eat your own food in and also have microwave facilties.
