Margot Robbie is set to play Barbie in the new live action film after the Australian beauty confirmed the news early this morning.
Margot will star in and produce the new live action film about the toy doll Barbie with The Press Association reporting that the movie is a joint project between Warner Bros and Barbie manufacturer Mattel.
The Suicide Squad star expressed her excitement about the role in a statement “I’m so honoured to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide,”
“I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
The film was first announced back in 2016 with Amy Schumer set to play the popular doll before pulling out of the role in 2017, the film will mark the first time the toy has been brought to the big screen.
A release date for the film has not been set and no director has been named yet, we’ll keep you posted.
