Just like Belly, we’ve all been waiting for summer. Although, this particular summer has come with some disappointments. Fans of the show, The Summer I Turned Pretty, have been eagerly awaiting the release of the final season, but after three episodes being aired, not all fans are happy.

*Season 3 Spoilers ahead*

Steven and Taylor cheating

It turns out the golden couple aren’t so golden. The first episode of the series revealed that Steven and Taylor have been in an on and off relationship over the last four years. Staylor fans are sad enough that their ship isn’t stable, but are even more disappointed to learn that both characters are cheating on their partners. Sure neither of these characters seem to be making actual appearances in the show so fans aren’t exactly attached to them, but the change in behaviour from both Steven and Taylor was disappointing to see.

“How many times? Twice!!”

Book fans knew the cheating (if you don’t call it that you’re not welcome here) storyline between Belly and Jeremiah would be happening this season, but Jenny Han really went hard by not having Jer cheat once, but twice. The situation has been compared to Ross and Rachel’s “break” from the show Friends, but even the disaster that is Ross Geller only did it once…

Regardless if either boyfriend thought they were over, it always says a lot about how much you love someone if you’re in bed with someone else within a few days.

Help, I’m still at the restaurant

While I have always claimed to be team Conrad, this season is testing that belief, and not because of how Conrad is acting. We’ve all had family dinners that turn into disasters, but announcing your engagement to the brother of your ex boyfriend at their mum’s memorial dinner takes the biscuit.

Not only is Belly still tugging on Conrad’s heartstrings, but the whole family seems to have left Conrad behind (literally) in their grief.

While some of these characters have become more messy than we would have liked, Jenny Han is still making sure the show is full of tension, an outstanding soundtrack (is that where the whole budget goes?) and just the right amount of pining.

We look forward to seeing how the season progresses.
