Let’s be honest, any student night in Dublin is going to be a good night out, it’s just a matter of picking and choosing depending on your taste in order to find the best night for you.
Monday:
Monday’s in Dublin are the big nights out, student wise, and you’re looking at three prime options. Dicey’s, Opium Rooms or The Palace, conveniently listed in my personal order of preference.
Dicey’s: With two euro pints and five euro cheaplist, there’s not much else that can go wrong with a night out in Dicey’s. Smoker’s paradise, the club pretty much orientates around an impressive beer garden and outdoor bar providing the perfect location for never ending drunken chats. However, being a non-smoker myself and still placing this club at the top of my list shows it still has more to offer. Several dance floors both upstairs and downstairs as well as numerous seating areas, there’s most certainly something for everyone. Perks also include two euro burgers and a set list that goes beyond the latest cheesy chart tunes. Enjoy.
Entry: Cheaplist €5/ €8
Doors Open: 7pm
Opium Rooms: The perfect place to go when you just want a good dance. Once you arrive you will automatically be directed towards a constantly buzzing dance floor. Full of the latest hits combined with strobe lights and DJ sets, it’s the perfect combination for everyone. Downstairs boasts an outdoor smoking area, a bar and a number of couches allowing you to give those dancing shoes a rest whilst a DJ gets the room going. Of course two euro energy drinks and vodka are usually to be found at the heart of the drink deals.
Entry: Cheaplist €5/ €8
Doors Open: 10.30pm
Palace: A bouncing dance floor at the heart of the Palace night club provides just the place to sing your heart out to the latest beats. Downstairs holds an impressively large smoking area and bars can be found on both floors, Voila! Usually a younger crowd, but the drinks go cheap and the tunes are something else.
Entry: Cheaplist €5/ €8
Doors Open: 10.30pm
Tuesday:
Copper Face Jack’s: There’s only one place to go on a Chooseday and that’s Copper Face Jack’s. Coppers will bring you right back to your disco days, what’s not to love. Copper’s never ending buzz can also be found on any other night; once you find the night clubs closing up, the fun isn’t over yet, it won’t be long before you somehow find yourself in Copper’s. Filled with almost anyone from almost anywhere, you can’t not have a bit of a laugh. Arriving at approximately 11.30 to 12am means you’re mainly looking at the dance floor and a combination of both new and classic golden oldies providing you with just the energy you need to keep on going! Plus you can finally say you actually went to the notorious Copper’s. Only five euro entry with cheaplist but it can’t be said that the drinks come cheap, so be careful with that contactless credit card!
Entry: Cheaplist €5
Doors Open: 11pm
Wednesday:
Bruce Willis at Opium Rooms: This is the place to be on a Wednesday night. You’re looking at deep house beats, flashing lights and a particularly alt scene, which who knows you might just LOVE. Think dark, flashing lights, and techno and then fill it with raving teenagers and that’s what you’ve got. Simple but effective, Bop on.
Entry: Cheaplist €5/ €8
Doors Open: 11pm
Thursday:
D-TWO’S: This is not to be missed once you hit the tender old age of nineteen. With just a little bit of everything, this night club provides the best of both worlds. Upstairs plays host to your favourite classic tunes as well as a buzzing bar from which you have two options, a direct stairs down to a packed dance floor filled with energy and the latest tunes or a door out to an outdoor smoking area and beer garden which even has a wee waterfall for a natural effect. More stairs will lead you onward and upwards to a bar and, believe it or not, a takeaway where you can satisfy those pangs of hunger without even leaving the club. Sorted. Downstairs again will lead you to further smoking area which eventually connects onto the downstairs dance floor. Get there early because the queue can be long meaning that you’re usually left paying eight euro entry rather than cheaplist! Happy Exploring!
Entry: Cheaplist €5/ €8
Doors Open: 11 pm
Toast at Opium Rooms: Is another night not to be missed. Much like Wednesdays except with a more laid-back vibe, cheap drink deals, a load of dj’s, and pretty much any epileptics’ nightmare. Two words, very alt, very cool.
Entry: Cheaplist €5/ €8
Doors Open: 11pm
