The 2019 Smedia awards took place on the 11th April at the Aviva stadium and it was Cait Caden who emerged as the successful candidate in the ‘RSA Award for Journalism related to Road Safety’.

The RSA do hugely important work making our roads safer for both drivers and pedestrians. Their stellar work is represented by a 4% decrease in road deaths in 2018 compared with 2017. We hope to see this trend continue this year and going forward.

As Writers and Journalist we have a responsibility to spread the message of road safety and Cait managed to fulfill these expectations so congratulations and thank you to Cait for that!

To present the award this year we had Cathal McCarthy. Cathal graduated from UL and is a qualified Business, Religion and Accounting teacher. He is currently the Education Officer with the Road Safety Authority.

We would like to thank the Road Safety Authority for the important work they do across the country and of course for sponsoring our award. We would also to extend our thanks to Cathal McCarthy for giving up his time to present the award on the night.
