Sponsoring this year’s Léiriúcháin Teilifíse i nGaeilge- Faisnéis agus Drámaíocht (‘T.V. Production in Irish, Documentary or Drama’ award) for this National Student Media Awards, Údarás na Gaeltachta is committed to ensuring the future of high quality Irish programming through the Irish language.

Údarás na Gaeltachta represents the Gaeltacht areas in Ireland and showcases the important role they play economic, social and cultural roles in Irish media. It provides funding for community cooperatives and development companies and works in partnership with youth clubs and pre-school groups.

A key factor of community development is the partnership between Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Arts Council of Ireland which together funds a variety of traditional and contemporary arts projects in the Gaeltacht areas through Ealaín na Gaeltachta.

Among the projects that are eligible for funding are festivals, publications, literary events, dramas, seminars and educational workshops which promote the Irish language.

Last year’s winner was Seán Ó Ciadhra from Waterford Institute of Technology and we are extremely proud of the work Údarás na Gaeltachta is doing to help the Gaeltachta communities.
