We’re delighted to announce RTE2’s continued sponsorship of the New Voices Award, at this year’s National Student Media Awards, the Smedias. The award will once again focus on finding fresh, new young broadcasting talent representing the diversity of contemporary Irish life, which is currently under-represented in broadcasting.
RTÉ2 delivers high quality public service programming for 15-34 year olds across a wide range of genres, including Irish comedy, factual entertainment and the best of international drama as well as sport and Young People’s programming.
The winner of this brand new award will be announced at The Smedias, one of the biggest nights in the Irish student calendar, on April 16th, 2015 at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
The overall winner will receive the much coveted prize of a work placement with RTÉ Television during the coming summer, where they will be given mentored production training, both on and off screen, across a variety of departments. The category is open to all full-time and part-time students across Ireland, with the exception of students who have worked professionally within the media industry.
Colman Byrne, Managing Director, Student Marketing Network said; ‘We are thrilled to have RTÉ Two on board this year. RTÉ2 is continually committed to delivering innovative and original programmes to suit the needs of a diverse Irish audience. The RTÉ2 New Voices Award will give the next generation of industry professionals the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and gain valuable practical experience with Ireland’s leading broadcaster.’
To be in with a chance to win this incredible prize and career opportunity students are invited to record and submit a short showreel via their personal YouTube Channel. The YouTube link along with a short CV or biog must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by 12pm, Monday, 6th April, 2016.
