The government has announced that a new hub that is dedicated to educating and supporting students on sexual consent will be launched sometime in the new academic year.

The aim of this new digital hub is to raise awareness and understanding of consensual sex on campuses around universities in Ireland. The hub will have resources such as videos and training. The videos will feature information about sexual consent, violence and harassment. The training will feature material that is intended to change sexual culture.

This announcement of the launch came from Minister for Further & Higher Education, Simon Harris at the National University of Galway (NUIG). Speaking at the event Minister Harris said that people need to “safe, empowered, confident and capable in their relationships and Ireland can take a leading role in confronting sexual violence and harassment… No part of society is untouched by sexual violence and harassment”.

The digital hub will be launched this Autumn and is expected to have new material added to it in 2022.
