As you scramble to finish your college assignments and beg your tutors for extensions, you are likely to be dreaming about summer.
But what does a college student actually do with three months off?
Here are three travel ideas for students to consider for their summer breaks.
Interrailing
Interrailing is a form of train travel that allows people to explore multiple countries across Europe using a single rail pass, known as the Interrail Pass. This pass offers flexible and cost-effective access to most train networks across 33 European countries, enabling travellers to hop on and off trains over a set period.
J1 Visas
The J1 visa is a U.S. visa program that allows students and young people from other countries to live and work in the United States temporarily, usually during the summer. It’s most popular among college students who want to gain cultural experience and work in seasonal jobs like in resorts, camps, restaurants, or retail.
For Irish students in particular, the J1 is often seen as a chance to spend the summer working in the U.S. while also traveling and experiencing American life. It typically runs for up to 4 months, and participants must arrange a job and housing in advance
Weekend Getaways
If you spent all your money in Coppers this year and big travel plans seem out of reach, then why not explore the beautiful scenery and culture Ireland has to offer. Go explore the culture of Galway or the Instagram worthy scenery in Antrim.
No matter where you are travelling to make sure to get an ISIC card.
The ISIC card has been sold in Ireland since the 1970’s. Their mission is to develop and deliver to students a wide variety of benefits and advantages covering all areas of culture, entertainment, leisure, sports, and travel. The card is recognised by universities, academic institutions, student organisations, national governments, and ministries of education around the world. The card is a great companion for travel as it offers a variety of discounts and can be used as a form of ID. Click here for more info.
