Dublin: The Tourist Perspective

dunlin at nightDublin – what a place. Although many believe that activities are limited, you will be pleasantly surprised by the number of attractions in and around the city. Many tourists aim to hit the shops and enjoy a pint of Guinness (or two) but the majority find themselves spending a vast amount of time following the stereotypical tourist route. Although some people normally wouldn’t do this, you will find that this is the greatest and most efficient option as you are able to see the entire city and hop on and off the tour bus whenever you want to.

Trinity College is a must-see. Students can see the finest university in Ireland and you are able to take either a guided tour or stroll around the perimeter of the grounds at your own speed. If you enjoy learning about Irish history, this is the place to be. You will enhance your knowledge of Ireland’s oldest university establishment. For example, many people do not realise that the university has been standing since the 16th century and students from other universities will be amazed at the sheer size and power of the campus. There are plenty of up-to-date facilities and you will be treated to a true insight into Dublin’s culture and heritage. It’s well worth a visit, especially if you’re hoping to possibly study here in the future!

If you enjoy playing casino games, Fitzwilliam Casino & Card Club is the place to be. As students, we love an opportunity to have fun and this casino has a plethora of options and promotions across the floor. But it might be worth a trip to somewhere like Casinos Online first so you don’t go in and embarrass yourself in front of the regulars. If you aren’t a heavy gambler, that’s fine. You can relax and enjoy a few drinks at the bar and take in the entertainment. There are always a number of hilarious locals around that can have you in stitches! Whilst it isn’t an absolute must-see, it’s certainly somewhere to relax and enjoy a night off after a busy day of shopping.

Ireland’s most popular tourist attraction, the Guinness Storehouse, is an absolute must-visit and is a world-famous venue. Essentially, it’s a museum that takes you on a unique journey through the brand’s long-standing history and allows you to gain further insight as to how Guinness became one of the world’s top brands. The tourist bus drops you off right outside the venue and picks you up from virtually the same spot, which is helpful as most customers enjoy a few pints of Guinness inside the building!

While it is an incredibly busy city, Dublin is utterly delightful and we recommend you to visit Ireland’s capital in the future. There are plenty of other activities and monuments to see across the city, but the Guinness factory is perhaps the greatest attraction. Trinity College is also very impressive and you should keep Fitzwilliam’s establishment in mind for a relaxing evening. It truly is one of Europe’s most attractive cities and, if you enjoy travelling, why not visit Ireland’s capital for a truly fantastic trip!
