As Ireland’s favourite student website, we here at oxygen.ie are delighted to announce that The National Student Media Awards will be back and bigger than ever in 2020. As this will be our 20th year of The Smedia awards, we promise to bring you our best event yet… We’re going platinum after all!
We’ll be returning to our renowned venue at the impressive Aviva Stadium in Dublin this April. This is a great opportunity for any up and coming students to get the exposure to launch their careers further. The Smedias have been a successful, long-running event for the last 19th years with a huge variety of categories to apply for such as Magazine of the year, Journalist of the year, Sports photographer of the year and many more. The night is covered across several publications and broadcasters in Ireland and showcases the best of the students work from third level institutions throughout the country.
Previous media partners included The Irish Times, TG4 and The Irish Film Board to name a few. Past celebrity partners and judges of the event include the late, great Gay Byrne, Brian Dobson, Ray D’Arcy, Kathryn Thomas, Eoghan McDermott and much more. Oxygen.ie are very proud of the success of The Smedia awards over the last 19 years and hope to see you all again this April to highlight the upcoming talent entering the media industry so start your application sooner rather than later to not miss this great night.
The opening date for applications is Monday March 2nd and the closing date is Thursday March 12th 2020
