It’s that time of the year again: submissions for the annual Student Media Awards (SMEDIAs),
hosted by Generation Y are open!

Once again this year, the “Journalism relating to European Issues” category is kindly sponsored
by the European Commission, and submissions for this category are open until Monday 16th
March. Thanks to the European Commission’s sponsorship, the student who wins this category
will be awarded a €1,000 prize at the National Student Media Awards Ceremony in April.

So, if you are passionate about European Affairs, now is your chance to submit your article, win
a €1,000 prize, and give your career in journalism a kick-start!

Why should I enter?
This competition is an excellent opportunity for young, budding journalists to get their career off
to a flying start, not to mention the €1,000 prize which can be used for travel, student expenses,
future development and more!

But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what 2024’s winner of the Journalism Relating to
European Issues category, Joshua McCormack had to say: ”The Award is a fabulous opportunity
for all writers, and I would highly recommend this entry. European Politics is relevant to our
daily lives on the macro and micro scales, and thus there are countless angles an individual can
take on the subject. With my prize money, I travelled to Japan. €1,000 will take you a long way
