The National Student Media Awards 2023 are coming up and we are delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with Ireland’s public service broadcaster, RTÉ!

RTÉ will be sponsoring the TV Production of the Year and Radio Journalist of the Year awards at this year’s ceremony.

TV Production of the Year

Awarded to the best student TV production of the year. This includes news, arts, and entertainment shows. Must be produced expressly for broadcast on student or campus television.

Submit one episode, or montage of episodes (maximum one hour), broadcast since February 2022 as a link via the online form. If your video has a password, please include it in the relevant space on the entry form.

RTÉ is a world-renowned broadcasting service and one of the oldest continuously operating public service broadcasters in the world. RTÉ’s vision is to champion Irish culture by captivating audiences with trusted, engaging and challenging content; celebrating our country’s rich diversity and cultivating Ireland’s talent, and aiming to enrich Irish life with content that challenges, educates and entertains.

Radio Journalist of the Year

Awarded to the best student radio journalist of the year reporting on news and current affairs, Radio Journalist of the Year submissions can include pieces focused on campus, national or international news.

Judges will be looking for an ability to dig out original information and present it with imagination and style, and the segments must be produced expressly for broadcast on student radio.

Previous winners of this award have gone to work for radio stations such as Newstalk, Today FM and 98FM.

We are so excited to have RTÉ on board this year and look forward to the opportunity to champion the work of student TV producers and radio journalists.

Applications open on the 1st of March and close on the 15th.
