Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan who plays Clare Devlin in the award-winning Derry Girls has said she supports the campaign to decriminalise abortion in the North of Ireland.

The actress appeared alongside fellow Derry Girls co-star Jamie-Lee O’Donnell in a photo supporting BPAS’ (British Pregnancy Advisory Service) push to decriminalise abortion.

Nicola said it was a very proud moment when we repealed the 8th in the Republic but now it’s time we support our sisters of the north border.

Women from the jurisdiction currently have access to abortion services in the Republic but they must pay €450.

Health Minister Simon Harris has said that he hopes the North will liberalise its strict abortion laws
