Vaccinations are well underway here in Ireland but they haven’t hit the students just yet. This means that we’re still stuck in Ireland this Summer! Booo. Seeing as staycations are on the cards again this Summer why try out these cheap, epic places to check out.

  • Lough Bray, Wicklow

Lough Bray isn’t the most famous lake in Wicklow, but that doesn’t stop it from being a breathtaking experience.

It’s a free fantastic hiking track with usually lasts about 2-3 hours that will give you refreshing views of Ireland’s great outdoors.

  • Sheep’s Head, Cork

This is a fantastic location if you’re into walks with amazing views.

The area has some brilliant views of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

One walking route you can take that’ll get you a glimpse of these views is the Lighthouse Loop. It only takes about an hour and a half to do!

When you’re done with the walk you can head down to Kinsale, another famous Cork location. It’s a colourful town with delicious food, friendly locals and nearby attractions. *

*This is a student-friendly location if you prevent yourself from buying loads of delicious food!

  • Duckett’s Grove, Carlow (for a spooky adventure)

This next spot on a staycation tour is for our staycationers that prefer some spooks.

Duckett’s Grove looks every inch like a haunted castle with Its tall towers, turrets and high stacked chimneys make a dramatic silhouette against the skyline.

What makes it even scarier is its past. It is said that banshee wanders the location because someone placed a Piseóg, a curse on the house. The curse was cast by the angry grieving mother of a young girl who had been having an affair with William Duckett and was riding on the estate when she fell from her horse.

  • Mizen Head, Cork

Cork is home to so many great places you can check out. One of the cheapest, most exciting ones is Mizen Head.

If you’re looking for some fantastic views then this spot for you. It’s got breathtaking views of Cork’s coastline and all sorts of wildlife from land and the sea.

It’s also extremely cheap! It’s only €8.50 to enter. Perfect for every student!
