The Virgin Media Dublin International Festival takes place on the 20th February until the 3rd of March.
‘DIFF curates and presents the best in emerging International and Irish film and moving image culture for a wide audience through its flagship annual festival, along with a range of year-round events and it aims to offer memorable experiences through audience interaction and engagement with filmmakers, actors and industry professionals, along with informed debates about the future of film as an art form.
The festival has a passionate belief in the power of film and is a massive advocate of Irish cinema.
Over 50 directors, actors and producers attend the festival each year to meet Irish filmmakers and discuss their work, so many incredible talents join in on the celebration, including Daniel Day Lewis, Gabriel Byrne, Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Al Pacino, Martin Sheen, and Glenn Close. The festival has screened over 1500 films since it first kicked off in 2003.
One film I highly recommend seeing is ‘Dub Daze’ which is directed by Shane Collins, the film is a collection of stories set in the north, south, and center of Dublin city. It was made on a shoestring budget by Shane, who put his heart and soul into this over the last two years.
Its will play in Cineworld on the 23rd of February, get your tickets here.
