The National Student Media awards are delighted to once again be partnering with The Road Safety Authority to present ‘RSA Award for Journalism on Road Safety’.
Writers and journalists occupy a crucial role in spreading the message of road safety and bringing the necessary attention to the work carried out by the RSA. In the last year the RSA have continued in their mandate of making Irish roads safer for all the drivers and passengers in the country.
In the last year, the work of the RSA has led to a substantial 4% reduction in fatalities in 2018 when directly compared to 2017. This is in turn resulted in the lowest number of road deaths since 1959. Another historic step in the right direction.
2015 Winners Sean Defoe and Eoin Sheehan compiled a radio documentary that looked at learning to drive and the safety of cyclists in Dublin City.
If having safer roads is something you feel passionately about you should definitely apply for the award this year. Your application can be a written piece, a radio output or TV segment!
The RSA recognise the importance of young journalists researching and writing on the topic of road safety which is why they are the perfect sponsor for this award!
