The National Student Media awards are delighted to be partnering with the Road Safety Authority to present the RSA Award for Journalism on Road Safety.

Writers and journalists have a big influence in spreading the message of road safety, and the RSA continue to try and make the roads safer for every driver and passenger in Ireland.

2017 recorded 159 fatalities on the roads over the course of the year. This is the lowest figure since 1959.

It is an achievement to have the lowest record in nearly 60 years, but the RSA are not content with that as they will continue to strive to bring that number even lower this year.

The RSA recognise the importance of young journalists researching and writing on the topic of road safety which makes them the perfect sponsor for this award!
