Listen up radioheads – we are delighted to announce that The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) will once again be sponsoring two radio categories at this year’s Smedia awards!
The BAI have been involved in The Smedias since 2005 and are once again sponsoring both the ‘Radio Production of the Year – News & Current Affairs’ category and the ‘Radio Production of the Year – Arts & Pop Culture’ categories.
It is an honor to be working alongside the BAI once again this year, given all of the work they do to make the Irish media landscape as successful as it is today.
The BAI is the regulator of all forms of broadcasting in Ireland and is responsible for licensing commercial radio and television services, as well as making and upholding rules and codes for broadcasting.
The work they do goes far beyond that; the BAI is constantly striving to achieving goals that will benefit both producers and consumers of media, some of which are directly beneficial to students in particular.
They are also responsible for the positive changes made in Irish radio and television in recent years as they have introduced a younger voice to the media in Ireland. Young people are now much more likely to get a job in Irish media than they were years ago and the BAI are to thank for that as they know that a mixture of young and experienced voices will help the media sector become more relatable.
The BAI are investing in the future of Irish broadcasting by supporting young up and coming radio journalists. We are delighted to have them return as sponsors for this years Smedias!
