Trinity College student Sam Fox won the SFI Science Writer of the Year at the 2020 Smedias! This award was sponsored by the Science Foundation Ireland. The judges were looking for a clear understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields and to showcase the innovative work being done within Irish scientific community.

The SFI understands the importance of showcasing science to the Irish people from an early age, the SFI encourages those with an interest to involve themselves in any way possible. The SFI believes in the potential for these fields to impact our daily lives as well as our society and economy as a whole. By sponsoring this award, they continue to support young journalists with an interest in science.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Sam, and our gratitude to the SFI for their continued support and for everything they do for Ireland’s scientific sector as a whole.
