TU Dublin student Megan O’Brien won the SFI Award for Journalism Relating to Science and Technology at the 2021 National Student Media Awards!
When going through the submissions the judges were looking for journalism that had a clear understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields and work that showcases the innovative work being done in Irish science.
This award was sponsored by the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). SFI understands the importance of showcasing science to the Irish people from an early age and they encourage those with an interest to get involved. They have done this by sponsoring this award and by donating a generous bursary prize of €1000 to winner of this award.
SFI recognises the potential in STEM fields and how they impact our daily lives, society and economy as a whole. By sponsoring this award, they continue to support young journalists with an interest in science.
We would like to extend our congratulations to Megan, and our gratitude to SFI for their continued support and for everything they do for Ireland’s scientific sector as a whole.
