Tá an Ghaeilge an-tábhachtach ó thaobh chultúr agus stair na hÉireann de. Ó bunaíodh é in 1999, tá Foras na Gaeilge tiomanta do bheith ag cabhrú an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn, go háirithe tríd an oideachas agus na meáin.

Trí urraíocht a dhéanamh ar an dámhachtain seo, tugann Foras na Gaeilge deis iontach do mhic léinn tríú leibhéal aitheantas agus moltóireacht a fháil ar a saothar ó shaineolaithe sa tionscal. Tugtar an deis dóibh freisin aithne a chur ar scríbhneoirí mic léinn eile, rud a chuireann lena ngréasán agus a ndeiseanna oibre sa todhchaí.

We are delighted to have Foras na Gaeilge sponsoring the Written Journalism through Irish award at this year’s Smedias. Their sponsorship helps to preserve the Irish language and support student writers.

The Irish language is hugely important in terms of the culture and history of Ireland. Since its beginning in 1999, Foras na Gaeilge have been committed to helping promote the Irish language, especially through education and the media.

By sponsoring this award Foras na Gaeilge gives third-level students a fantastic opportunity to have their work recognised and judged by industry professionals. It also gives them the opportunity to get introduced to other student writers, which builds their network and increases their chances of work opportunities in the future.

Having an organisation like Foras na Gaeilge working to encourage Irish speakers to speak the Irish language in the public and private spheres is vital for the continued survival of our national tongue.

It’s fantastic to have an award that promotes the use of the Irish language by young people in our country. Foras na Gaeilge’s sponsorship provides support and encouragement for these young writers.
