Údarás na Gaeltachta has come out in support of the online campaign “go raibh maith agaibh” established by the Language Planning Officers in Gaeltacht communities throughout the country in support of front line workers during the COVID-19 emergency.
The organisation, which is responsible for the managing the language planning process and administering of the process in the Gaeltacht, encouraged people to show their support of the workers through social media by using adding the Twibbon “go raibh maith agaibh” to their profile pictures.
“Most people in Ireland know what the words ‘Go raibh maith agaibh’ mean and those words resonate now more than ever as we say ‘Go raibh maith agaibh’ to those working on the front line during these unsettling times.”
“We have witnessed unbelievable community spirit – the ‘meitheal’ spirit – from community groups, sporting organisations, community development organisations and businesses, people have come together to assist the vulnerable since the COVID-19 emergency began.”
“The Irish language is our strongest badge of identity and the sentence ‘Go raibh maith agaibh’ is understood both nationally and internationally.”
