Twink to donate body to National History Museum

Irish entertainer Adele King aka 'Twink' has donated her body to the Irish National History Museum in Dublin, insisting that it's "Only fair a national treasure like herself should be on display for everyone else to see".

Two weeks ago, she signed the paperwork and made official her plans. She carries a donor card in her wallet. Her two children Cloe and Naomi support her choice and said they look forward to the day when they will see their mum encased in glass in Ireland's most prestigious history museum.

At 60, Twink sits at the kitchen table in her Knocklyon home and talks as matter-of-factly about her future passing as she would the inevitability of her never getting a man.

She said: "It's only right. After I'm gone the public will still want to see me in all my glory.

"It would be unfair of me to have my body buried or cremated. For a person of my stature, that would just be downright selfish!"

Her reasons are as complex and simple as herself.

After she dies, she won't need the vehicle she has used in this world, but the mourning public will. So why hide it?

Ms King's agent said today: "On an emotional level, Twink fans need somewhere to pay homage. Offering her body as a gift to the public is just the right thing to do."

Her choice is rooted in the same reasons why she won't just leave her ex-husband alone.

"If I die before that fucking cunting bastard I want to still be around to show him what he lost out on." she added.

She pauses, trying to find the phrase to capture the why of her decision. In the end, she chooses four simple words: "I love my fans"

Last week, curator of the museum Nigel Monaghan wrote in a thank you letter to Twink: "We are grateful for your generous gift to the history museum of Ireland. The decision you have made is a difficult one, but the great comfort it will provide to so many grieving fans and historians is immeasurable. Your gift to this little island is truly appreciated."

Mr. Monaghan added: "Anyone iconic celebrity/politician can donate their body, but might be disqualified based on disfigurements caused by their death.

"The person has to be part of Irelands history."

Adele Kings body will be taxidermied immediately after her death and mounted in a new section called the 'Stuffed Iconic Historical Figures Section'.

Topless Ukraine activist grabs Euro Cup

(Reuters) - A Ukrainian women's rights activist stripped to the waist and seized the Euro-2012 soccer trophy while it was on public display in Kiev on Saturday in a protest against the forthcoming month-long championship.

The young woman, 23-year-old Yulia Kovpachik, is a member of the Kiev-based Femen women's rights group which believes the Euro-2012 soccer tournament being played in Ukraine next month will encourage sex tourism.

Kovpachik strode up to the silver, 60 centimeter (two feet) high trophy, which was on display as a tourist attraction in an open air exhibition in central Kiev, ostensibly to be photographed alongside it like hundreds of other sightseers.

But she then pulled down her red T-shirt to reveal the words "Fuck Euro 2012" scrawled on her torso. As she grabbed hold of the cup with both hands, she was seized by security guards, who appeared to have had advanced warning of the protest.

They covered her with a sheet and took her off to a waiting police car.

The protest appeared to be the first action in a campaign against the championship by Femen which regularly stages bare-breast protests in Ukraine - and sometimes beyond - to highlight what it sees as political injustice, social abuse and the exploitation of women in Ukraine.
