It was another busy weekend in Sports, well football anyway.

In the Womens World Cup, the USA were 2-1 winners over France on Friday night with Trump’s nemesis absolute legend Megan Rapinoe scoring twice. A late goal from Wendy Renard proved to be just a consolation. On Saturday, the Netherlands proved too good for the Italians, emerging as 2-0 winners. Lastly, Sweden overcame Germany 2-1 to reach the semi-finals. Tomorrow evening, England face USA and it’s Netherlands vs Sweden on Wednesday in the race for the final.

In the Copa America, Brazil needed penalties agaisnt Paraguay to qualify for the semi-finals, where they will face Argentina after their 2-0 win over Venazuela. Both of the other two quarter final fixtures required penalties after scoreless draws with Chile beating Columbia 5-4 and a Luis Suarez penalty miss costing Uraguay a place in the semi-final with Peru profiting as a result. So it’s Brazil vs Argentina on Wednesday and Chile vs Peru on Thursday.

In the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco beat the Ivory Coast, South Africa beat Namibia ,Guinea beat Burundi while there was a shock result with Madagascar beating Nigeria by 2 goals to nil. Elsewhere, the favourites Eygpt beat Uganda 2-0 while Congo battered Zimbabwe 4-0.

In the Leinster Hurling Championship Wexford beat Kilkenny 1-23 to 23 points while Limerick beat Tipperary by 2 goals and 26 points to 2 goals and 14 points.

So, thats your Sports roundup for the wonderful weekend. Enjoy 5 days of counting down to the next one.
