They say “time flies when you’re having fun” but if we’re honest last year felt like it lasted at least a decade, and somehow it still feels like March. For us gamers though, there was some joy to be found in the great games that were released last year. Whether you were chilling on your own private island on Animal Crossing New Horizons or fighting your way through the indie dungeon-crawler of Hades, its safe to say we weren’t short of entertainment.

However, the New Year is here! So, it’s time to look forward, and get ready for the games set for release this year. This list will include games for PC, PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles and the Nintendo Switch.

First up! Fans of horror rejoice, for Little Nightmares 2 is set to release on February 11th! This horror platformer made by Tarsier Studios will be a continuation of the story from the first game and promises to feed our love of unsettling themes and unnerving visual designs. Continue this bizarre story now as the new protagonist Momo, while previous main character Six assists you through this nightmare.

This game will be released for PC, Nintendo Switch, both the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

For those of us who love to imagine the life of spies and assassins, (don’t deny it, we’ve all dreamt of being Bond at some point!) IO Interactive have you covered. Hitman 3 is set for release by the end of January. Players will once more step into the illusive shoes of Agent 47, as he assumes all new identities, and use the most random of weapons to take out targets. Step back into the mind of one of the worlds best assassins as you figure out all new puzzles to complete the most challenging of puzzles.

This game will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia and Nintendo Switch.

For those of us who also share a love in table-top games such as Dungeons and Dragons, oh boy is it an exciting year for us! With no set release date yet, but the promise of it being this year, games company Turque Games has kept us itching for more info on the upcoming release of Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance. This third-person action and roleplaying game will feature characters from R. A. Salvatore’s The Legend of Drizzt series of novels and the cooperative action of those Dark Alliance games from the early 00’s.

This game will be released on all consoles and PC.

The Medium,  a game which has been teased since 2012 is finally set to release on January 28th. This horror game, made by the same studio which brought us Blair Witch and Observer, promises to be truly terrifying. Players will go through this psychological horror as Marianne, a medium who can cross over into the spirit realm, as she tries to unravel its secrets. With music composed by the amazing Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka (who worked on the music in the Silent Hill series) this is for sure a game which will give us nightmares!

This game is for release on PC and Xbox Series X only.

For something, a little lighter, the final game on our list is that of the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. After the resounding success of this game Nintendo has answered our pleas in giving us the direct sequel we all want. This game promises to expand on the open-world systems we fell in love with in the first game, as well as build on the secret rich environments. With hidden lore aplenty, and more breath-taking graphics, we’re all hoping this game can live up to the successes of the first one! Set to release early March, we haven’t long to wait!

This game will release for Nintendo Switch only.
