If you’re a big fan of The IT Crowd, the news that a major American producer is attempting to remake the show will comes as bittersweet.

On the one hand it will mean that you’re reunited with the duo of Moss and Roy, albeit played by different actors, but it’s not like US remakes have the best track record and the whole show could end up as a disaster.

Bill Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs and producer of Cougar Town and Sin City has revealed that he’s ready to take on the challenge and remake the hit series, even though it didn’t exactly work out last time.

Some of the more dedicated fans may recall that NBC have already tried to remake The IT Crowd, casting Joel McHale to replace star Chris O’Dowd and asking Richard Ayoade to continue as Moss. To put it bluntly, it tanked.

Hopefully this American adaption will be as good as The Office and not the same standard as The Inbetweeners, which was complete and utterly dreadful. If Bill Lawrence manages to create anything like the UK version, he will surely have another hit on his hands.

There’s a big job to do if it’s going to live up to some of these moments.
