We are thrilled to announce that the Irish Film Board will sponsor Film script of the year award at this year’s Smedias!
The Irish Film Board has been the figurehead for the development of Irish film, television and animation since 1993.
It has funded and developed many successful Irish movies such as The Wind that shakes the Barley (2006) and the Oscar winning Once (2007) ,as well as more recent productions such as Brooklyn (2015) starring Saoirse Ronan.
The influence that Irish film has on the movie industry is ever growing thanks to the IFB. It is recognised across the world at festivals and award shows. There have been many successes recently such as the multi-award nominated movie Room (2016) and The Lobster (2015) starring Colin Farrell, who was nominated for a Golden globe for best actor.
The IFB has had many successes in developing small original ideas to the big screen, which is one of the reasons why it is a suitable sponsor for our Film Script of the year award.
Entering a piece for this award is a big opportunity to show your creativity with your original idea and maybe one day in the future, you could be writing the next Hollywood blockbuster!
