We are proud to once again be featuring the ‘European Commission Award’ in the 2020 National Student Media Awards. This award is given to the applicant who has written and published the best article relating to the EU. The applicant will also be awarded a cash prize of €1000 and publication in a regional or on-line newspaper

The European Commission is the executive branch of the European Union and develops the overall strategy and political direction of the EU. It does this by proposing legislation, implementing decisions and upholding EU law already in effect.

The European Commission’s primary aim is to do all of this for the betterment of it’s EU citizens. Journalists reporting on matters that relate to the work done by the European Commission is therefore extremely valued by the European Commission as it lets them know the impact their strategy is having on EU Citizens.

We at Smedias are honoured to have such an important institution sponsor their very own category and excited to see the various ways the EU has impacted Irish students. For more information about the category, click here.
