We were delighted to have the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland sponsor two of our radio categories at the National Student Media awards 2018.

The BAI has had a huge influence on the Irish media landscape since it was formed in 2009. It is the regulator of all forms of broadcasting in Ireland, responsible for licensing commercial radio and television services, as well as making and upholding rules and codes for broadcasting.

They have managed to introduce a younger voice to the Irish media. There are now more opportunities than ever for young people to get into the Irish media, as the BAI believe that a mixture of young and experienced voices will benefit the development of the Irish media in the future.

Robert O’Sullivan, Niamh O’Reilly & Aaron Frahill from UCC took home the Radio Production of the Year – News & Current Affairs award this year with their entry, Midday Express.

Mary-Kate Findon from DIT won the Radio Production of The Year – Arts & Features at this years Smedias.

We are delighted here at Oxygen.ie to have had the BAI sponsor not just one, but two categories at the years National Student Media awards.
