The Broadcasting authority of Ireland are sponsoring two of our radio production categories at the National Student Media awards 2018!
Established under the Broadcasting act 2009, the BAI had a huge influence in developing the Irish Media landscape into the success it is today.
The BAI is the regulator of all forms of broadcasting in Ireland, responsible for licensing commercial radio and television services, as well as making and upholding rules and codes for broadcasting.
They are also responsible for the positive changes made in Irish radio and television in recent years as they have introduced a younger voice to the media in Ireland. Young people are much more likely now to get a job in the Irish media than they were a few years ago. The BAI are to thank for that, as they know that a mixture of young and experienced voices within the media sector will help it become more successful.
Only recently, the BAI and RTE have announced the launch of a teacher’s resource guide to support the delivery of the new Junior Certificate English and Science curricula. This initiative is part of a strategy to promote Irish content to younger audiences.
The BAI see the talent and innovation that students possess in this country, and are clearly huge supporters of that as they sponsor both radio production categories at this years Smedias.
They are supporting the future of Irish broadcasting by sponsoring Radio Production- News and Current Affairs and Radio Production-Arts and Pop Culture categories.
We are delighted to have them return as sponsors for this years Smedias!
