Scouting For Girls - Everybody Wants to be on TV review

Scouting for Girls have stars in their....eh...trees

This album will obviously appeal to all the wolfcubs out there but doesn’t do anything for me (wolfcubs - the Nickname of Scouting for Girls fans). It can be described as a mix of pop and light Indie music. Their other hits have included Elvis ain’t dead and She’s so Lovely.

Scouting for Girls are a British pop band made up of Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard. The group got their name from the Scouts book Scouting for boys.

The album is more or less a continuation of their debut album. This Ain't A Love Song is probably the strongest song on the album and hit number one. Andy Green produced the album and he has worked with the likes of KT Tunstall, The Feeling and Keane. There are some strong songs on the album but there were none that really grabbed my attention.

This Ain’t a Love Song is probably the strongest song on the album and uses strings and is very much like an anthem for the band. Little Miss Naughty starts with a dance vibe, which runs through the chorus. Goodtime Girl is an up-tempo song about a girl and is as anthemic as their previous releases.

Silly Song is a slow song and is very much silly I might say. Blue as your Eyes once again about a girl and utilises some strings. As you can see they generally stick to a method of writing with their pop songs, which can get a bit boring after a while.

The most interesting song on the album is Posh Girls which is like a House Martin song also known as the band Fat Boy Slim and the members of the Beautiful South were in.
1+1 starts with a slightly heavier intro then other songs on the album.

The songs are readymade singles and would be good for mainstream radio. But an album made up of 10 songs seems like a bit of a rip off and they more or less keep to their formulaic method of writing songs that can get a bit tedious after awhile. If you liked their first album I’m sure you’ll like this but it doesn’t do anything for me.
