Oxygen.ie is proud to announce the sponsors of the Raidió Trí Ghaeilge award at this year’s National Student Media awards: Raidió na Gaeltachta and Raidió Rí Rá.

A branch of the national broadcaster RTE, Raidió na Gaeltachta provides Irish language programs as well as news and current affairs to the main Gaeltacht areas in Connemara, Donegal and Corca Dhuibhne as well as across Ireland.

Since 2001, Raidió na Gaeltachta has broadcast to listeners 24 hours a day and can be heard worldwide with live streaming via their website, with podcasts regularly published from a number of programs.

Created during tSeachtain na Gaeilge in 2008, Raidió Rí Rá now broadcasts in Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Galway with the latest chart music and pop news through Irish. It has worked with and featured renowned artists such as Bell-x 1, Heathers, Glen Hansard and The Riptide Movement.

Aimed to be an Irish radio station for young people, it also broadcasts 24 hours a day and headed by the Raidió X Teoranta with support from Conradh na Gaeilge and is funded by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht through Ciste na Gaeilge from the National Lottery Receipts.

Last year’s winner was Amy Coy from NUIG and we are proud to be working with organisations that support the Irish language in radio.
