Generation Y are looking to recruit an all-round social media and writing guru as an intern to their team. We are looking for someone to take charge of our social media channels and to become the Editor of both Oxygen.ie, Ireland’s no.1 student media website, and The Spanner, our satirical e-Zine.

The phrase ‘digital content producing extraordinaire’ is thrown around an awful lot these days, but unfortunately no other phrase so closely describes just what we’re after, so we must deploy it here. Our social media channels have grown exponentially over the past year and the successful candidate will be required to engage with and develop our online audiences, run competitions and online promotions as well share lively and humorous content on the page. Thus, the ideal candidate will be someone who considers themselves to be a master of engaging with audiences on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter- basically we’re looking for a less contentious and available Donald Trump.

Our website, Oxygen.ie, is one of Ireland’s oldest and largest student media websites. The website covers a wide range of content, including satire, entertainment, style, sports, features and college news. If have a knack for editing and writing humorous articles which appeal to a student audience then you will be perfect for the role. The position will involve both writing occasional articles for the site, but primarily you will be tasked with commissioning articles from our pool of contributors which you will be in charge of sourcing.

Key attributes:
– Excellent organisational skills
– Competent writing skills
– An excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter etc.
– The ability to write in a humorous/light-hearted manner
– The ability to delegate tasks and work on their own initiative
– The ability to work to a deadline
– Must be able to work alone or as part of a team

Preferred experience:
– A history of student journalism and editing
– A proven record of social media experience
– Familiarity with Photoshop, WordPress, Premiere Pro or other video editing software

If you are eager to pursue a career in media then this internship will be a great start for you! A weekly stipend covering basic expenses will be provided to the successful candidate. You will gain fantastic experience in editing, writing and digital marketing all while working in a fun and exciting office. Previous people in this position have gone on to work for many illustrious national publications including the Sunday Business Post and Hot Press.
