We are delighted to have two such prestigious Irish language organisations sponsoring our Irish language television category. Having TG4 associated with the category shows their commitment to finding the next generation of Irish-speaking media talent as well as showing to students applying for the award that there is a bridge between their Irish language broadcasting in college and the professional world.

On top of that, Údarás na Gaeltachta’s commitment to promoting all aspects of Irish language, culture and heritage firmly encompasses Irish language media and shows that they are focused on fostering a new generation of Irish media talent to help grow the language further and ensure the cultural vitality of gaeltachta around the country.

Awarded to the T.V. production in Irish, documentary or drama, created by a student in Ireland since March 2nd, 2016. Finalists will be shown on the night and hosted on the website. Must be produced expressly as part of a student project or for student broadcast.

Queries: We are hoping that by having this online application form, the process of entering the Smedias will be streamlined for everyone and do not want it to act as a barrier to anyone who’s considering entering the awards, so feel free to get in touch with any queries or problems you’re having and we’ll endeavour to help you out.
