If you’re into your Copper Faced Sluttin’ or similar activities this girl is for you. She’s comes across as the more annoying Lady Gaga-type (didn’t think it was possibly, eh?) in that she goes on and on and on about just how “rad” and “rock ‘n’ roll” she is because she takes drugs and is into other such hardcore-related activities.
Basically the girl comes across as a most unpleasant citizen who enjoys nothing more than debauchery and making awful, awful music. It really is awful.
Kesha seems to have the musical skill and talent that would have got her a hawt record deal and she has wrote a number of songs on this album Animal as well as having recognised musicians such as P. Diddy and Taio Cruz involved. So where does she go wrong?
The songs are all about partying and “gettin’ crunk”, “having boys touching [her] junk” and “smackin’ em if they get too drunk” and the “po-po shutting them down” a.k.a.: bollox.
Kesha or Ke$ha (please note the dollar symbol) also resembles and has a similar name to porn star Keisha, this was brought to my attention by my brother worryingly enough and I think it’s safe to say that Ke$ha herself is not far off becoming a member of the porn industry.
For now though she is a record breaking artist because her single has become the longest running number one debut single by a female artist since 1977 and this debut album, Animal, went straight to the top of the U.S. charts earlier this year. The drugged up version of Lady Gaga must be doing something right…
Animal contains songs not dissimilar from her infamous single Tik Tok that can be heard in any mainstream nite club thrice on a nightly basis. Stephen, track 5 on the album, seems to be Ke$ha’s first attempt at a ballad-type-love-song that digresses from what a regular ballad sounds like: it’s mid tempo, it contains a synth melody but it certainly does have that repetitive element.
Every song seems to contain a reference to drugs, alcohol, partying or being wasted, it’s no wonder Courtney Love is an advocate.
It’s hard to believe that this girl achieved almost perfect SAT scores and less hard to figure out that she ended up dropping out of high school (thank you wikipedia.)
Hungover is a better attempt at a ballad and I have to admit is an acceptable song but enough of that, take some joy from the titles of other songs on the album which includes such gems as: Take It Off, Party At A Rich Dudes House and Boots And Boys.
This album doesn’t seem to have a censor label on it and as someone who is generally against censorship I feel this is worse in content then any of those Snoop Dogg or Dr. Dre albums I have listened to and enjoyed.
Animal seems to be telling adolescents, in particular girls, how to act like cheap who-ers, how to act like a sap and that glorifying alcohol and drugs is a perfectly acceptable and cool thing to do. Perhaps this album ought to be banned!
The only delightfully brilliant part of the album is in the song Party At A Rich Dudes House: “I threw up in the closet”, is in reference to a real incident whereby Ke$ha threw her ring up in Paris Hilton’s wardrobe, for this perhaps she deserves to be commended.
College fund burning a hole in your pocket? If you would rather spend your money on music than themed stationary this year, here's a round-up of the albums we're loving this week.
