Part-time actor and full-time mentalist Charlie Sheen has announced his intention to secede from the United States and establish an independent state in Beverly Hills.

Revealing the news on his newly created twitter a/c @charliesheen, the actor, who is the son of miniature aeroplane flying furniture cleaner Mr.Sheen and star of American ‘comedy’ two and a half men, said the move was about “freedom”.

“It’s time to throw off the tyranny of the nanny state and live our lives the way we want to live them,” he wrote.

“It’s all very well to have laws and regulations but let’s face it, actors and celebrities are the modern day aristocracy and the rules you need to keep the little guy in check don’t really apply to us.

“In the newly declared Republic of Sheenia, drugs and hookers will not only be legal – they’ll be compulsory,” he declared, before ceremonially sniffing a line of coke from a stripper’s arse.

“I’ve also had a lot of criticism for dating two women (former model Natalie Kenlyand porn star Bree Olson) at the same time, but it actually makes far more sense than monogamy. They’ll be able to keep each other occupied when I’m on the playstation. It’s win win.

A spokesperson for the United States government said the declaration of independence was “worrying, but only in the sense of our concern for Mr Sheen’s mental health. We advise him to seek professional help.”

Sheen said that the reaction of ‘my former country’ was immaterial as he had already “received the official permission of the Earth’s true rulers, an alien race known as the Cluxtons.”

The actor also paid tribute to former Corrs member Jim Corr, saying the Irishman had helped to broker an understanding with the alien overlords.

“Propz (sic) to my boy Jimmy C,” he wrote. “Vice-Prez job is yours fo sho!”

Sheen said he now plans to establish the institutions of a fully fledged state, including applying to join the United Nations and issuing passports, which will be credit-card sized and slightly sharpened for ‘convenience’.
